Deep Sea and Big Sky

Brandon Hauser

At about 90 miles in length and 2,000 feet in depth, the Lynn Canal is one of the deepest and longest fjords in the world. It’s part of the Alaska Marine Highway and connects Skagway and Haines to the rest of the Inside Passage. The Chilkat Mountains reach thousands of feet out of the Lynn Canal with year round snow covered peaks. Helicopter skiers and snowboarders take to the summits for an unforgettable ride down the mountain every year. It’s a rare thing to see the sun in Southeast, Alaska. When it blazes through the clouds the majesty of the land and sea cannot be ignored.
